    What is tooth decay?

    Tooth decay, what is it?

Tooth decay is a disease damages your teeth and leads to holes leading to toothache and tooth extractions if not presented to the dentist on time. Sugar reacts with the bacterial plaque forming acids that attack teeth and destroy tooth structure. This destruction continues until reaches tooth nerve which can lead to tooth pain .

Tooth decay process starting from the outer most layer of tooth until tooth core takes about one to one and half year. I gauss its enough time to visit your family dentist for intervention.

Every time you eat or drink anything sugary, teeth will be under acid attack for up to one hour. So it is important to restrict our sugary foods or drinks just at mealtimes, limiting the amount of time your mouth is at risk.

Acidic foods and drinks also harmful to teeth. Acid dissolves the enamel(outer tooth layer), exposing the dentine underneath. This can make your teeth sensitive and the more dissolution is their the more sensitive are teeth

A diet that is rich in vitamins, minerals and fresh fruit and vegetables can help to prevent decay .
