    Bad Breath

    Bad breath is not only unpleasant but also indication of unhealthy mouth and dental disease. Some causes of bad breath are harmless others are serious medical condition; here are some of the causes: 

    Food- Strong pungent smelling food or drinks such as garlic, onion, and coffee can affect your breath. 

    Smoking- not only affects quality of your breath, but also stains your teeth, irritates your gum and bad in your overall health.

    Gum Disease-constant bad taste in your mouth could be a sign of advance gum disease, which caused by sticky cavity causing bacteria.

    Bacteria- Whenever we eat or drink, bacteria will feed on the left food particles in your mouth and leaves stinky smell.

    Dry Mouth-Saliva helps your mouth clean and not having enough saliva flow cannot wash out bacteria.

    Medical Conditions-Certain medical conditions affects the quality of your breath such as Mouth infections, sinus condition, gastric reflux, diabetes, liver and kidney.

    Dental Considerations:

    Visit your dentist regularly for overall mouth check-up and dental cleaning, Your dentist will advise you to brush twice a day and floss between your teeth,  clean your dentures if you have removable type, eat and drink healthy to keep saliva flow coming and quit smoking for other medical conditions please see your healthcare provider.
